EAST WEST COMMUNITY CENTRE: DAY CARE SESSIONS

East West Day Centre was established in 1995 to provide Day Care services to the elderly and frail from the ethnic minority community –on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday. We offer care to Asian elderly clients suffering from disability. Our service acts as a means of bringing someone out of isolation and loneliness; and thereby promoting mental health, as a preventative measure through interaction with others.

Our Day Care Centre is centred around a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere and at the same time they are reassure by our well qualified staff in attendance.

Our experienced Day Care staff running this service are bilingual speaking ; Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and are very engaging with the elderly.

Our services is built around the choices and needs of the individual service user which is of vital importance; and aims to be flexible as possible to meet the individual care needs. Carer support and respite from their continuous demanding role which is often stress- related; whilst their client/family member is looked after by us.

Our Day Care sessions runs from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. We run meaningful activities, as many suffer from chronic illnesses. Our stimulating and re-energising activities include:

  • Day trips, Picnics, Shopping Trips, Cinema Trips
  • Chair based Exercises and Yoga to strengthen muscles and prevents falls
  • Painting Arts & crafts which includes various dementia related activities
  • Cards, Dominoes, Bingo
  • Involvement in our Grow Green Project

Our service users can also enjoy freshly cooked vegetarian meal which we cater for each individual specific needs such as diabetic, Mild, Soft, low Salt, Jain, etc. We also provide refreshments during the session. We are under a framework contract with Leicester City Council. We also accept clients referred by social services or through direct payment system.
